Welcome

This collection of daily devotionals is small and minute thoughts, poems, stories, experiences, and prayers in my life or my children's lives, maybe you could say just “scents of the Spirit” that God sent my way. These devotionals could be an accent or grammatical mark that is needed in your life. My prayer is that through reading these God will breathe on you his scent. and you will bud and bring forth limbs like a plant. I pray that through the daily reading and studying of His word you will come to know Jesus in a more intimate way. He is no respecter of persons and desires for you to know him in an intimate and profound way. It is you that he loved. It is you that he gave his life for. Take time daily to allow him to speak to you as he has spoken to me for so many years. How he grieves for your fellowship.

Are You a Salt Lick?

Jesus replied, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God." Luke 9:26

I am staying with some missionary friends of mine in Panama for the next 2 weeks. They have literally given up everything they own to come here and minister to those in need and to present the gospel. They gave away most of their possessions and made a lifestyle change that only few of us can comprehend. I have to say, I stand in awe of them. As we were talking about her things she had given away and left behind she told me that God is making her so aware not to look back. Not to complain or grumble, but to be a grateful servant.

When God asks you to let go of something he is always standing ready to give you something else. Why are we so fearful and untrusting of our loving father. We say No Lord I'll do anything you ask but dont take that thing, person or place away from me. We seem to think that we just cant survive with out it and he sends his word and says "to save your life you must lose it". No matter how hard we try, we cannot fathom or wrap our tiny little brains around the ways and wisdom of God. Why do we think we know better.

Remember Lots wife. God was delivering them from the city that he was about to reign down fire and brimestone on and had sent angels to escort them out and what did Lot's wife do. She looked back regretting the fact that she was having to leave all of her comforts and her things and conviences. She looked back complaining and wanting to hold onto those things that God was taking her away from. She was not being thankful that she was being delivered, she was not thankful for personal escorts sent from on high. That didn't set to well with God so he turned her into a pillar of salt. There she will stand for all eternity for an example to those of us who are selfish and ungrateful servants.

What is it that God is trying to deliver you from? What is it that he is asking you to let go of? Are you submitting to the leading of the Spirit or are you a salt lick?

About Me

Becky
Macon, MS., United States
I was born and raised in Mississippi and it’s where I live today with my husband of 26 years, Mike. The Lord blessed us with three beautiful children, Lesley, Sarah and Shannon. Accepting the role of caretaker, I moved into my parents’ home to care for my mother, who suffers with cancer, and my father, a great man of faith in Jesus Christ, who recently passed away after his long battle with Alzheimer’s. Loss is, unfortunately, no stranger to me. I was 29 when, my sister and best friend passed away from heart complications at the ripe age of 28. I am comforted knowing they are both reunited with our heavenly father in Heaven. Through my 51 years, I have experienced most of what the world has to offer and found my peace, joy and hope in Christ alone. I have worked as a software trainer for 12 years, but my true passion is loving people. My burden for souls is unquenchable. I maintain an unyielding stance against phariseeism. I am an outgoing, opinionated, intuitive, generous, passionate, forgiving free spirit, who loves the Lord above all else. While reading my blog it is my desire that you experience the Presence of Almighty God.
